Great job with a nearly impossible job! Great soldering skills. How practice yous know which resistors to replace? I couldn't practice the first 7 minutes of this video, but I definitely would take cleaned the CPU/heatsink and put on some decent paste while it was off. Awesome video!
As a maker, working with hot air desolder/solder techniques was something I had to get comfortable with if I intended to do prototyping of scale projects before sending out designs for production runs. I have a Sony Vaio, and information technology had 8GB of ram when i first bought information technology... one of which was embedded in the motherboard (and then 4GB x2) and the other was removable... then i just removed the other 4GB and added another 8GB and now it's a total of 12GB which is good plenty, and no soldering headache! lol

The fact that Apple charges 200$ for an additional 8GB of RAM and makes information technology so difficult to upgrade the RAM yourself is the sole reason I am not ownership a Macbook correct now. I work with windows but was thinking almost getting a Macbook as a secondary computer for compatibility with other filmmakers. But I'd need 16 GB of RAM for editing and I just tin can't justify paying $200 for 8GB.
